Oil on canvas·50 × 40 cm·2021
Inspired by the documentary Fantastic Fungi, this painting explores the mysterious and interconnected world hidden beneath the forest floor. While creating this piece, I became fascinated by the important role fungi play in nature and in our everyday lives.
One of the most striking ideas from the documentary was learning how trees communicate and support one another through underground fungal networks — often called the wood wide web. This invisible connection between life forms became the heart of the artwork.
With vibrant colours, textured brushstrokes, and dreamlike mushrooms glowing against the forest background, the painting reflects both the magic and the science of the fungal world.
And just to be clear — no magic mushrooms were ingested during the making of this artwork.
